Graves lies in the background of the Shadowlark Symphony as a manipulator and instigator of the events in the story. The nature of Graves is something of a mystery: he is not aggressively evil, but also seems unconcerned witht he wellfare of anyone living in the Asylum, those few who even know of his existance liken him to some kind of wandering angel of death; there to move events forward.

Personality-wise Graves is apathetic to anything other than his own goals. He doesn't care enough about others to find any joy in their misery or suffering, and he doesn't seem to bear any kind of egotism or pride.

Graves has displayed a number of powers: the first is a strong swordsmanship skill, complimented by an ability to manifest a spiritual flame that can perminantly distroy living creatures - or create wounds that cannot be healed by even the most advanced sciences and techniques (such as Sakura's arm). It should also be noted that Graves can 'force' cooperation from others simply through eye contact - though the mesmerism is temporary.

Graves is accompanied by a blue flame effegy: call it 'goblin flame' or 'ghost flame'.

Graves is the main character of Shadowlark Symphony as a whole, so I don't remember too much about what the actual inspiraton for the character was. Graves is based largely on the idea of the chinese hopping ghost vampire. Graves is more of a 'living dead' than 'undead' sort of character.
